As spoken about in the previous post, I decided to go further with the font and I really liked the way the upper case 'G' looked. so I chose to make it my feature item in my poster.
As I still wanted to incorporate the brick wall, I decided to have the brick wall around the 'G'. I initially has to make the brick wall as the background. I made the decision to go with the animated brick wall as the realistic wall posed many problems with creating the right texture and colour. To top it off printing a brick wall with a texture would have been a massive struggle.
I had the idea to have the black background to make the feature 'G' stick out even more. To do this, I created a circle around the 'G" with a diameter for 5-8cm. I then inverted the selection to select the area outside of the circle and changed the colour to black. This left the contents in the circle as a brick wall and the black 'G'.
With the brick layout showing an obvious circle, I used a black spray brush effect to black out the partial bricks and the bricks the sat on the circle line. I even used the spray brush on the 'G' using the brick wall colour, to make it look like it had been spray painted on like street art would be.
The last thing I needed to do before adding the show details was to add the Godspell title. I used the same font used for the 'G' and the same colour I had used for the brick wall. I re-created the circle but added an extra 2-3 cm more to the original circle. I then created the title to fit around the circle. I typed the title in caps lock as the font looked bigger, easier to read and overall better like that.
The last thing I needed to do was to add the show details. This was an easy task as I knew I would have to use a white, sans serif font. I opted for Myriad pro for the font.
I was rather pleased with the end product even though it was a longer process than I originally planned for. However I felt that the single colour made the poster rather plain looking. So I made 4 other versions for approval. The other versions were the same design with different colours used. See below:
My aims for next week is to finalise the poster ready for printing and distribution. I would also like to commence working on the program.
